Hey guys, I have quiet a big problem. I have 500GB HGST hard drive. I was using it @ work, I created there a 400GB TrueCrypt volume. Unfortunately the harddrive somehow failed and now I cannot access this disk because it went... RAW (The disk, not the truecrypt volume). I tried to use EaseUs Data Recovery tool but after 4hours of looking for files to recovery it didnt find this file, it is strange because i had there several files, a truecrypt program and this single 400GB volume called TCVolume, how the heck Easeus missed that big file? :{ Easeus only found about 250GB of compressed GZIP files and this is strange because I never copied to this HDD any GZIP file... And yes, I have backup but the backup is quite old... I copied there about 80GB of important stuff 2days ago and I didnt make backup yet.........

I would appreciate any help from you HDDGURUS:):)

Ok, sorry, your description was a bit misleading. I thought the 500GB Hitachi was inside of some sort external enclosure. But this is not the case.

I think that there is a chance the drive may have failed at hardware level, maybe firmware.
I would suggest as little tampering as possible with it in running some basic diagnostic tests with MHDD. Strongly recommend that you read the manual first.

Recommending this to rule out any possible issues at hardware level as the more scanning and troubleshooting continues, the less chances of success there will be. If no hardware/firmware issues, then we can think at logical level what may have gone bonkers.

If not confident in carrying out these tests, suggest to take it to a specialist, a reputable data recovery specialist.
