Motor is indeed common problem with this series, should be pretty straightforward for any half-decent pro. I'm sure there are a few in Italy on this forum that can handle this easily!

I've searched the web and found many peoples with motor problem, I found a web page taht says "•when holding it next to the ear you might hear slight ticking or scratching noise as if motor tries to spin up but cannot" with a sound sample taht is like my problem (is a commercial page so I think the link cannot be posted).
I wonder if there is a low cost solution (not DIY) or for recover the drive is necessary a motor replacement?
Thanks, Giuseppe

Sorry but I'm newbie and the system give me no permission to send PM: "We are sorry, but you are not authorised to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more to be able to use this feature. "
I've NOT opened the drive

Hi hddguy
in this post
mk8025gas-platter-swap-t9661.html#p58210 you told "These drives use fluid bearings which 'dry' up. You can use a hot air gun to heat the motor at the rear of the HDD being careful to protect the PCB" it's a possible solution?
Thanks, Giuseppe
