einstein9,
Interestingly, as you can imagine an instantaneous process,
change thousands of MFT records?

Well, none of the solutions i got either here or PM worked for me really

this subject was cooking in my mind long time and still nothing

added to my top list for now, and hope to find answers for it

the last issue is booting from Linux and do it, but really waste of time, so far no other

Unlocker does the job for me (in XP). You just select the dir you need to delete and bye-bye...

You have to wait a bit for directory to be deleted. A message shows up after a while (1-2 minutes) "Deleted successfully".

einstein9,
read about the device NTFS.
Questions will disappear.
For example:

i know i am late to the party here but i use a piece of software called Path too long tool. It handles everything i can think of. Folders with long depth, files with long names, locked files.

It is not an instant one click gone thing, it does tak e alittle time to delete it all, but it is a one click solution, click and wait for it to finish. no interaction in between.
