Western digital "2TB elements": cyclic Redundancy check

Hello! I need your help (I am a bit desperate)

My drive WD 2TB Elements (WDBAAU0020HBK-01) suddenly failed yesterday.
It spins, it shows on windows task bar "extract with security", and in my pc under windows 7x64 (not showing how much space is left)

Tried to run it under linux and it shows this image

- Tried fixing mbr--> No solution
- Tried hddregenerator and it recovered 37 bad sectors (a whole day running).--> No solution
- Tried chkdsk /f /r but it was reeeally slow (41 sectors in 40 minutes on a total of 150.000). I cant have it running through a whole year so I interrupted it (from what i have read maybe i made the situation worse by interrupting it)

- Then as the last resort used Testdisk, but I dont know pretty much what is the problem, and didnt find any solution.

- I cant connect directly to the IDE cable because only have notebooks (could buy a cable to connect to the notebook directly through USB2.0, but not sure if the problem is there).

From what I have read it is a problem with the format, any way for restoring it? (I only want the data, will trash the disk if it has problems)

Well, what is done is done.If it happens next time I understand you suggest to delete that program and never use it again
More screenshots, the device manager has changed from showing the drive without letter or space (but showing the unit) to showing the space and the format is RAW. Is it possible to recover the data? Dont want to do anything more for just making the situation worse



Sorry but my os is in spanish. I translate: "Do you want to format the drive?". Previously I have received messages like "not accessible, parameter is incorrect"

You have to clone to another identical or bigger then work on clone. Then you have to send to a pro the drive for complete refurbishing if you want to have it fixed. This is safe.

I am already recovering the info with "getdataback", At first i found a "I/O Error 'Unknown error (23)' reading sector 0 on HD130", but then it countinued without problems (and at the moment i am recovering it).

So happy ending after all.
I have been recommended r-studio to make an image, but i am happy with the getdataback, and i dont think there would be so much difference.

One question: Could I rely in this drive any more or should I throw it?
I am not going to send it to a pro because prices in Spain (where I live) are really expensive, and buying a new one is cheaper

One last question: On Getdataback it showed me this 2 filesystems to recover the info, what in your opinion is better?

There are significant risks with trying to do a recovery directly from a failing disk, which is what you are doing. That is why you were recommended to make a clone first. Since your data is not worth the price of buying another 2TB disk to make the clone, then obviously it's not very important to you so I won't waste my time explaining in more detail - I hope your risky plan works for you this time!

I understand from your sentence that i have done everything bad lol
The drive is more than 2 years old, so no RMA.

Best program for doing the image is r-studio or could i use "getdataback" too?. It would be an image of the occupied space or the whole drive?
So better dont rely in this disk any more, isn it? Thanks for your help.

The disk can be repaired and it becomes like brand new, but not by you.
Find the nearest pro and ask if they have the necessary know how and equipment to do it.
