There are a lot of new drives coming out that do not have IDE or SATA adapters on them they just have the Mini USB build right into them

Looking to an adapter to take it from the USB to SATA so we can hook it up on our imaging device.

Also i saw some other pins on the unit next to the USB can i connect an adapter into that?

First you should understand why it doesn't make sense to try to go through two USB<->ATA bridges while trying to image something

You don't have to backup all of your files, just the ones you want to keep.

No easy way to get around imaging this type of drive.

Have to get creative and research a lot. Use the search function with key words for WD and USB, etc.

You will find some info, but then you will have to make decision regarding what extent of time and other resources you want to invest.

Your looking at finding a compatible sata pcb to fit or hacking together a sata connection to the usb pcb bypassing the encryption chip.
If the drive is encrypted so will your image you get via sata.

The 12-pin header provides Tx/Rx access to the MCU's serial console. It also drives the LEDs and accepts input from pushbutton switches.

What are the markings on the USB-SATA bridge IC? Is it an Initio INIC-1607E, or something else?

Can you upload a dump of sectors 0 and 1? This may help us determine if the data are encrypted.

Did the drive come from an Elements or an Essentials product? Essentials are encrypted, Elements are not.
