Seagate 9W6044-560 not working

June 12th, 2012, 9:57

I have a Seagate 9W6044-560 external HDD that has seemingly stopped working properly within the last few days.

When it is turned on, the power light indicates it is on, I can hear it power up normally, and everything here sounds fine.

It is not connecting via the USB cord to any machine, and if a different cord is used, same results.
There is no error message or notification that a device is connected, simply nothing.
I've used the MS utility; UVCView.x86.exe file version 6.0.5079.0, as I saw it suggested for the same HDD on another post here, and it does not appear on the list.

I suspect that the data connection hardware maybe has crapped out, but thought I'd asked around first.
It is well beyond warranty and Seagate likely will not help, though I will send an email anyways.

Suggestions?

Try connecting bear drive to your computer and report results here.

The HDD itself? The casing is not the type where removing the HDD is easy, I am looking for directions on how to do so though.

This can be several problems on this one. You best is to find a DR company and take it on to analyze this. One it could be a simple FW fix, two HDD problems, three other problems in SA. For what you are saying it is hard to determine the exact problem of this. But if it is not in BIOS then more than likely it is not FW bug on this one. Not too many FW bugs around now more of the problems are else where and you should get it looked at to give you an idea of what is really wrong on this one
