Hello Guys,

I have quite the same problem with WD10EARS-00Y5B1 (DF2-PL4K) and WD20EARS-00J2GB0 (DF4-PL4K).
With HDD Doctor there is some mods with read problems ... in Low speed or in secondary I can read these mods but I cannot write them back in Primary ... head 0 is read-only ... any idea how can I update these mods ? ... Do you think I will have more success with the new DFL-WD II or Atola or PC3K ? Any sugestion ?

Many thanks
Alain

Hello Alain,

If you cannot write the mods, it can be the failure of the tracks. If the SA tracks for these mods are damaged or too weak to write, you may not write on it. So you need to test the tracks first and write in tracks.

I suggest you can go with DFL-WDII if you have, this tool offers many options help fix the problem.

You can shift the track of these mods in 01 dir mod ,then you can write to the good tracks, in this way, I think it can fix your problem. Another way might be use the 'common FW and ROM repair' function with original FW backup but you need to format the SA area first.

Regards

yes friend you are right

you can transfer modules from track to another free track and i think in your model 256 tracks
from track 1---132 are free nondata spare track you can choose any track from them by 2 method
1- read mod 01 dir then only open firmware map modules and choose your bad module then press number of track that y like

2- you can use aba choose your free aba and put your module on it this method very good with big module like e1 e2 and so on cause size of module big than size of track and impossible to add
on only 1 track aba transfer mode is better to you

but check another modules in read and write to check if you have read only problem or only bad sectors on your module
DFL-WD IS BETTER TO YOU IN THIS PROBLEM
coz its important to decide where y go
