 Post subject: Seagate ST3250410AS clicks heads

Drive clicks head,. Bios does not detect it. In the terminal, with each sound head writes "HM".

After about a minute he turned off.
Me to recover the data. Which in this case, the fault most likely?

Heads are bad, stop playing with it.

Thank you, but there are a couple of questions:
About the head - that's your assumption, or an accurate diagnosis?
A simple replacement of heads helps in such cases?

A "accurate" remote diagnosis is impossible remotely :D

A "simple" head exchange might well solve the problem, but there could (probably is) be underlying issues.

As is written, HM means head are damaged.

Heads for sure, maybe platter damage also

Well not problem, but solution.
Be aware, it is not as easy as it looks if the person performing the work is inexperienced with the technique.
