 Post subject: Fujitsu hdd with MHDD results. Fixable?

Well, I have this old Fujitsu hard disk from an HP laptop whose motherboard burnt. So the hard disk probably is damaged too. I still tried it with MHDD, the hdd name and S/N etc isn't shown
and on doing ID, these drive registers light up

Code:
7F ERR INDX CORR DREQ DRSC WRFT DRDY      AMNF T0NF ABRT IDNF UNCR
[1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ]                  [         0]

and more 1s below.

Some commands show,
Warning: This device does not support LBA mode....

Also, MHDD 4.5 says the drive is protected with an ATA password although I don't remember adding a password. 4.6 just says Drive not ready.

So just asking, is it worth wasting time with this drive.

If the drive was healthy but locked, the ID should have shown in MHDD along with a "drive is locked" message.

Since this is not happening, then the drive is likely damaged.

Does the drive spin?

No, it doesn't.

And I forgot to mention, it isn't detected by the BIOS either.

Alright, so highly likely the PCB is damaged.
You have a couple of options:
1) invest a bit of time in trying to fix the PCB given it is fixable
2) source another compatible PCB and get the drive to work given there are no additional issues

Or can just forget about it.

I see no burns anywhere on the PCB. What else should I be looking for?

Read upon digital multimeter testing.

Can post a picture of the IC side of the PCB here on the forum, maybe you will get more suggestions.

Or like I said you can source another PCB by following compatibility criteria found for Fujitsu in this location: http://www.donordrives.com/hard-drive-p ... swap-match

Sorry about the late response. I was trying to contact a friend to give back my camera so that I could post the pic but I just couldn't get a hold of him.
I'm sorry. The quality of the pic is poor but I hope it helps.

I checked the fuse on the PCB. It's closed.

I contacted them but they said my PCB is out of stock and it's impossile to tell when it'll be restocked.

Given the picture resolution, I do not see any apparent damage.
Either start troubleshooting more on the PCB (can use the search function for this) or easier just source a compatible PCB.
