My USB External Harddrive failed. I have useful data that I would like to recover from it.
When I connect it to a PC or Laptop it pops a message " You need to format the disk in E: before you can use it...". When I try to format it (just to see if it communicates with the drive) it gives me a message of "Windows can't format E: ....". Through already published forum messages, I tried some tips from it, used tools such as checkdsk E: /f; EASEUS Data Rewcovery tools, but without sucess. I am unable to read the drive content.
I would like to be assisted with some instructions on way to proceed either through use of tools or take any specific hardware actions to recover the data.
The External USB hardrive details are summarized below:
Model: WD10TMVW - 11ZSMS1
LBA: 1953525168
DCM: EBMTJBNN
DCX: DZ11SCTM7
Appreciate any help to assist me recover the possible amount of data I can.
Thanks,
Jose Manuel

before connecting it to your PC, open Events Viewer, then connect it and see if there are IO error reading
could be bad sectors on begin. or maybe heads all depends
but for your case here, if you needed your data, seek a pro. or you may continue and kill it more
this type of hdd`s needs Pro. no DIY
and good luck
