How To Completely Format A HDD with recovery partition

Hi guys,

I have an LG notebook model R590 and took upgrade on my machine replacing the conventional HDD (Fujitsu 500GB) that comes in it for a SSD. To not lose the HDD, I bought a adapter case and swapped the dvd drive (never used) and put the old HDD in place of dvd drive. So, in this scenario I have two storage units in the notebook: the ssd with operating system (Windows 7) and original HDD now serving as backup drive.

Installing Windows 7 on SSD drive was 100% peaceful. Without any problem.

The problem is now how booting the machine when the old HDD is plugged in. Here is the problem:

Several notebook sellers are putting the option of "recovery" in HDD, which consists of a way to recover the system in case of failure. The data for this restoration are in a hidden partition on that HDD. My original HDD cames with this recovry partition.

As I never had interest in this recovery option I formatted the old HDD, removed the partitions and thought I could now count on a good HD 500GB for my backups.

Big mistake: the recovery partition of the HDD seems to be indestructible. I've tried formatting all forms imaginable using the EASEUS Partition. Have I wipe the HDD (took almost 10 hours). Same sitution: as soon as I format to NTFS and I try to boot the notebook with this HDD plugged, the BIOS always try to load the old Windows that was installed on it. This, of couse, generating an error, because I formatted the HDD, no longer has any data on it, much less Windows. The strange thing is that by EASEUS (and other programs) any hide partition appear in this HDD. All I can see is a empty HDD with only 1 partition with ~460 GB.

The impression it gives is that there is a marked trail in HDD indicating that definitely exists a Windows there.

How can I remove it? I would leave the HD completely reset as factory? Is that not possible?

In time: there is the option "boot menu" in the notebook BIOS (by pressing F10) that allows me to select which HDD I want the boot. In this screen I can select my ssd drive and boot the ai occurs naturally. But unfortunately I can not do this option is permanent then every time I reboot I need to get this boot screen, which is quite frustrating.

I think you should just set the correct parameter in BIOS.
Just go to "Hard Drive Order" or something similar (according to your BIOS version) and just set your SSD to be drive number one.
Then your laptop will boot from your SSD.

Why do you say you can't set this as a permanent setting? You should enter your BIOS, not your PopUp Boot Menu.

Follow Northwinds advice. You may also consider changing in bios the boot order of USB to be after hard drivers or often there is an option to not boot from usb.
