Evening all

The PC-3000 does imaging as so does the DDI. If (like myself) you are new to DR and had the chance to buy either which one would you go for?

I appreciate the DDI is the starting base so to speak but does the PC perform equally as well the DDI or is the DDI better at imaging?

My logic (and it maybe flawed) is that I can start with a PC and use it for imaging drives while teaching myself how to use all the other features while learning the basics. When I want to move to the more complex issues I have the hardware already.

Or would people still go for the DDI first then the PC after?

Im still sitting on the fence and it like I need someone to hold my hand......
Discuss......I appreciate everyones advice on this one no matter what it is

Cheers

This has been discussed many times on this forum, but in a nutshell both have pros and cons.

If I were you I would start with a DDI as the cost is lower, it has a much less steep learning curve and will allow you to recover a good quantity of drives.

Admittedly it is not as powerful as PC3k in terms of firmware repairs and such, but this type of work takes a LOT of knowledge and experience to do anyway.

I know a good few people who have started out with a DDI unit to recover the basics jobs and outsource the firmware and physical jobs to people like us :-)
