I'm reading through these forums as best as i can. I have read a few about this hard drive and they are kind of scattered. So I will do my best to not be a dummy in here.
My passport 500 gig hard drive fell from it's perch about 8 inches onto my desk and is no longer working.

Symptoms... LED is on steady... 5 Audible buzzes then silent. No recognition with windows explorer on multiple computers and windows device viewer does not pick up anything on the usb port it is plugged into.

I am using the original 12 inch cable that was supplied with it upon purchase. I have however tried multiple cables in multiple ports. any help will be appreciated. I also tried plugging it into a powered usb hub and nothing there either. thank you

Most likely heads are stucked to the platters.
Unfortunately, it's not a DIY case.

Sorry for bringing bad news but there is a mechanical INTERNAL problem and there's nothing you can do.

To be honest, if you have only valueless stuff like music, video and replaceable non-important data, get another one and carry on.

Otherwise, you have to seek professional help, at professional price too.

Sure, pros most of the time. Newbies rarely.

Has already been answered and is likely correct, though a remote diagnostic is not always enough and surprises do occur.

Sometimes there is, sometimes there is not. A proper diagnostic in person is necessary by a specialized data recovery professional who has a clean room experience and so on.
