I am posting this so I can get some additional suggestions for this issue.
So I have a external hard drive that use to be in BlackArmor casing but I have since
removed from its casing which actually is a Seagate Momentus 5400.5 320GB hard drive.
This issue is that my laptop will not recognize my hard drive after I have connected the
SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter to my laptop and the hard drive. If anyone can give me any
suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

I think that the BlackArmor external drives are encrypted (though I've never bought one). If so, then removing the drive from its original case is likely causing the symptom you've described, depending on exactly what you mean by "recognise" (I can think of at least 3 different interpretations, depending on exactly what you are checking).

It would help if you explain the history to this situation, so that readers can get a better idea of the story so far e.g. to start with some basics:

- Why did you remove this drive from the original Seagate enclosure?
- Do you still have the original Seagate enclosure?
- Did the drive work OK in the original enclosure? If not, then explain in detail.
- Where exactly are you checking for the OS (I guess Windows?) to "recognise" this drive, when it's attached via the SATA-USB adapter?
- Do you know that the SATA-USB adapter that you're using, works OK?
- Do you care about the data on the drive now, or are you just trying to make the drive itself (erased if necessary) usable via that SATA-USB adapter, and you don't care about the data on the drive now?

@pcimage,

Thanks for confirming that :) Depending on exactly what the OP is trying to achieve, and whether he has any other equipment problems, that fact might be his only issue. Hopefully the story will become clearer, when he replies to my questions. :)
