WD10EADS-11M2B3 Internal ROM issue

November 13th, 2012, 6:05

Good morning people,

Im writing this post to know if any one knows what is the resistance our component in the PCB that defines if the ROM is internal our external.
Im asking this because i have a WD10EADS-11M2B3 that have the PCB damage and the ROM is internal, i got a donor drive that is WD10EADS-22M2B0 that have the same PCB letters, but have one diference the ROM is external and the idea is to write the ROM manualy with the information of the original drive and solder back in original PCB.

If any one had this problem our knows how to successfully overcome tell me please.
Thanks in advance.

Good Recoveries :)

Not sure what is your main goal , why you need to know pull up/down resistor to do this :
and solder back in original PCB.
if your PCB were damaged .
If you want to get access to the data, you have everything
i got a donor drive that is WD10EADS-22M2B0 that have the same PCB letters, but have one diference the ROM is external
And no need to reinvent the wheel .
Just use it, use matching enough version of rom , and go rock.

My original PCB is damaged because in safe mode in PC3K i write a ROM of donor to test the PCB. (i save the original ROM before)
But in that moment i realise that despite the size being equal, having copied 192KB from the external ROM to the internal damaged the PCB. My goal is to put the external ROM donnor with the original ROM programmed in the original PCB that have the slot U12 clear.

Not sure just to put external ROM on to your damaged PCB in right way is main goal. Do you want something from drive ? Extract data or what? You can use donor pcb for that.
If you just need to repair killed pcb here it is your topic:

Yes my main goal is extract the data. I realise that with the same version of the ROM in this case 0070003G,with a PCB that have the external ROM with this version the drive should read the SA right? But in this moment i just read the Parameters and the modules Relo-list and SMART, the rest of them can't read it.. Any advice?
Thanks for the reply.

Best Regards, :)
