Put your against the drive and power on - confirming no sound still? Maybe a buzz?

Also, describing the drive model can help a bit.

I am just asking so I can understand the drive's behavior by running simple tests using what you may have around.

Depending on how new your drive is, opening the enclosure by you will void the warranty on it. Are you willing to accept losing the warranty? If so, the next step would be to connect and test the drive itself on a tower/desktop machine by connecting it directly to the SATA ports on the motherboard. Though not always useful, you can also use another enclosure and see if that would work. These are still very basic tests, so if this has already begun complicated and the data is important, then I recommend pro help, someone who specializes in data recovery, to properly evaluate your media.
