Are Western Digital USB 3.0 cables proprietary?

A friend has brought me a WD My Book Essential, WDBACW0020HBK-00. It will not connect to a computer. To make the story short, I want to try a new USB cable first, but WD is out of stock. Will one off Ebay work?

The cables are not proprietary.

As long as the interface connectors match you should be gtg.
