Hello guys,
I've this seagate ST3500820AS with top surface crashed AND spindle problems. The motor was succesfuly repaired, but right now i've to make this drive come ready and top platter is most likely gone (three big circles and don't think i could do nothing more). The other platters look good anyway and not so much dust was inside, so i think it's possible to make a try.
If i'll use donor heads, i'm sure they will be killed in no time so i am looking for other solutions. It is possible to reroute the top head to a good head in this model of seagate? For what i know, it's not possible with 7200.11 but maybe i'm wrong. Doing that i can bend the top head (so it stop scratch the top platter and make dust) and do a partial recovery maybe. Any other suggestion is accepted thanks!

Head crash is head crash and you will be wasting too much time on this one. There are some drives you just have to say no recovery on no matter how bad you wish you could do the job. Sorry no good suggestion on this one for you but to give it back to the client and show them the damage.
