Thank you Spildit,

I receive drive from someone, and he need data from that drive.
History of patient drive is:
That person move PCB from WD5000 to WD20, because, he thing, that he will fix problem with 2TB drive
When he return PCB from WD20 back to WD5000, WD5000 doesen't work anymore. He realize, that he make a mistake.
Then he send drive to me. I connect drive to DFL, and see, that drive doesen't spin at all.
So I swap PCB from donor to patient and try with DFL. Drive spin up with donors PCB.
After that I return PCB to donor drive and test it, if it works and everything was OK.
Then I process with hot swap.
Now I waiting for new donor drive.
Any suggestion or question

Hello

I connect both PCB's(donor and patient) to DFL and SD tool in safe mode. DFL is able to read patient's ROM, SD reports error when I try to read ROM.
Donor's ROM is not detected with any of tool.

This is how the horror stories start...

Originally owner changed PCB, a simple transfer of PCB to similar disk is unlikely to damage to to the extent that it no longer recieves power. Also, you are focused on HotSwap to compensate for the loss of native ROM, but there is still some underlying issue that caused owner of the HDD to mess with it anyway.

Also, I dont understand what you mean with this:

Quote:
That person move PCB from WD5000 to WD20, because, he thing, that he will fix problem with 2TB drive

What 2TB? I thought issue was with 500GB only??

Hello HDDGay,

customer swap PCB from working WD5000AADS to faulty WD20EARS. After he swap back, WD5000AADS become also faulty.
My work was only with two mentioned donor and patient drives.

I asking, if is possible, that in my case ROM on my donor's drive bocome corruped, and if I unsolder rom and flash it, could this solve my donor drive to become alive.

To me, math doesn't add up.

Something is missing from the story, or I am having hard time trying to understand it.

Dear Nortwind,

I will try to short everything, and if you have any advice, please
1. I turn on donor drive connected to device
2. put donor drive to standby
3. swap donors PCB to patient drive
4. spin up patient drive with donors PCB
5. write mod 11
6 turn off everything

When I try to repeat all steps, donors drive was no longer deteced. Something is wrong with PCB
So I asking, if is any way to try to repair this donor PCB

I hope, that is now more clear everything :)

BR
