Save the drive.
Put the drive in a safe place.
If in the future you want to have it "recovered" you might send it in then.
As time passes by you will see life on a diferent way, and you might want to get those pictures back.
Also, as time passes by drives will be cheaper (hopefully) and one day there will be more and more data recovery specialists and prices will go down, especially when SSD starts to be the norm.....
Again, you can have the drive stored for some years without trouble and decide on recovering the files later.
