I accidentally killed it by swapping 12v and 5v wires.

are you used welders, and hot air welders before?
if yes probably get data, if not maybe loose data. If data important to you contact with a pro maybe you get data for a 50$ quotation

Most likely pre-amp is gone too. If you can't fix the damaged pcb you will not be able to move ROM to new pcb too, as it's embeded on mcu.
If you need the data send the drive to a pro.
