Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a 500GB Hitachi that needs a head swap. This drive was originally purchased as an external G-Drive. The drive info is listed below. Thus far, locating a donor for this drive has been pretty challenging. Matching the MLC has been the main issue. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for places to look for donor drives, or if there are any other MLC codes ( or other drives at all) that would be compatible for a head swap with this patient?

Model: HTS545050A7E380
P/N: 0J11285
MLC: DA4334
Date: OCT-11
Country: Thailand
Thanks

Hitachi Arm. Forget it. Even the best pro amongst us sweat blood and tears to recover these.

Why are you so concerned about MLC?
Was this drive dropped? Every one of these I've seen come in for recovery has been dropped with media damage.

This is a hard case.
Comomly Hitachi drivers makes Scraces into platers, if not experimented with head exchage contat with local pro.
