Can not get HDDLLF.4.25 to unpack to usb with PeaZip

May 3rd, 2013, 11:56

I did a search on how to unpack HDDLLF, but came up with no entries. Unpacking HDDLLF with PeaZip to usb drive does not work when I boot to usb, get msg to remove media or disk. Is this a license issue? I could not find the license described in the FAQ as listed here: "Q: Can I install the software and the license key onto a removable media (USB stick or CD/DVD disk)?
A: Yes, simply use the version that does not need installation, unpack it to your media, and then place your license key in the file llftool.license, located in the same folder as the main executable file."

I have some bad sectors and tried SeaTools for DOS but did not get Zero Fill option in Advanced Options which was the recommended action from Seagate. I've LLF'd a few drives in the past but this one is giving me some issues. If someone could help with a solution, that would make my day. Been working 2 days now on it and about to circular file it and buy a replacement.

(a) Which file specifically are you trying to unpack (please supply a link); and
(b) Why are you trying to unpack it?

The "no installation needed" Windows executable is at:

http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low ... F.4.25.exe

Simply copy that file to your USB drive (or any drive other than the one you're trying to wipe) and execute it. If you've already tried that and had a problem, please explain the symptom(s) in detail when you did that, including screenshots of any error message(s).

If you supply the current, full SMART data (including raw values) for your "problem" drive, that will help other readers to better understand what you are dealing with - alternatives to the LLF Tool may also be possible. Of course it may be that your drive is deteriorating towards failure (and the "circular file") anyway, but without more info then I can't give an opinion either way.

something strange in this question here.

HDDLLF is in exe format, not unpack needed.

a question, what you want: Recover Data?, refurbihs drive?, zero fill drive?
