hitachi hts543216l9a300 PCB replacement

June 28th, 2013, 16:57

good evening ;

i have hitachi hts543216l9a300 with burnt PCB

pcb sticker #
0A57128
DA2358_
X5K843
3544

the pcb is toasted and no chance to revive it ..

i am trying to use a donor pcb

pcb sticker #
0A57128
DA2358_
M5P907
KAPZ

the donor PCb does make the patient media spins ok , witout any clicks or abnormal sounds , but doesn't detect neither in BIOS nor in DDI

U6 may has some unique data to the patient drive , but previous recoveries "which were performed o nthe drive before reaching me" and transfereing the U6 several times i think , has just damaged the patient U6 "a leg is messing and hand work is obvious on the chip"

any thoughts ?

thank you

Your photo isn't clear enough for me to see the damage at U6, but have you tried reading the chip with an SOIC clip? Is there a short circuit between pins 4 and 8?

thank you for your answers ..

no pin 4 and 8 are not shorted ... but pin 2 is lost :?

the photo is for the donor PCB , in the patient the U5 is toasted , and U6 missing leg 2
PIN 2 is assigned to "Serial Data Clock"
