Hello everyone, this is my first post, after a long time searching on this great forum.

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB ( ST3500418AS ) with CC34 firmware (from factory). One nice day, when i boot up, the bios shown the 0 size problem. After a a few moments (or hours) of desperation, I've reinstalled my OS over another hdd, start googleing, and found the 7200.11 (yes 11) fix for size 0.

Unfortunely, I followed all steps successfully, (bought a sub - ttl, created the cable, started putty, connected, sended the command, and so on (check https://sites.google.com/site/seagatefix/ or this one http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/128807- ... e__st__506 )) When I rebooted, bios now shows the correct size, but when the OS is going to start I get a "read error".

Started from my another hdd, windows 7 took forever to start (about half an hour), and when it does, in file explorer I can see my two partitions but, again, when I try to see my files, a read error appears.

I really don't care about the disk, but my thesis is there, and I want to kill myself for being so stupid. You gurus are my last chance. So this is why this is my first post.

I've already tried:
- follow the tutorial again, with longer pause time between commands
- tried this tutorial http://translate.google.com.ar/translat ... 200-12.htm
- runned checkdisk (again a read error occurrs)
- started seatools from freedos (console version, since my mouse isn't working on the UI version, result: my hdd is not listed)

Really I don't know what else to do. I will go to a company for data recovering but in my country there are no companies that can make the job.

Sory for the long post, and sory for my english. And thanks for taking the time to read this :)

Sorry, but its end of the road for DIY...

" I will go to a company for data recovering but in my country there are no companies that can make the job."

A simple google search finds...

http://www.werecoverdata.com/SA/Argenti ... entina.htm

Never dealt with them, but sure there are more.
