Dell Latitude HDD locked, password known

May 9th, 2010, 10:13

HDD Maxtor/Seagate 2.5" (STM980215A) IDE locked in Dell Latitude laptop BIOS. It ask for HDD password at startup, I know the password, I can run the Windows but when I try to disable the HDD password in BIOS by entering old and then entering blank new twice it does without problem but it doesn't disable it. On next startup it ask password again. I tried several HDD software i.e. MHDD, Victoria, HDAT2 etc. but none of them accept password neither as User nor as Master.

Take a look at Dell manual about HDD passwords.
AND revise how MHDD works regarding HDD security features / level + passwords

hmm to add to that notion, if you know the password, put it in another computer as a second hard drive & use Victoria to remove the user password, if the pass port states the drive is "frozen" unplug the data cable, & restart the computer once you get passed the bios screen & start booting up the OS drive, plug in your drive & us should be able to use the Victoria for windows 4. 43 password feature to type in the known password & disable the password on it... PM me if you have any questions
