USB HD reported unplug by HDDLLF

August 15th, 2013, 22:18

Hi all, I got WDC USB Elements and the power adapter was dying when I copy a large video file. The HD become corrupted and some of files show CRC error when trying to copy. I have manage to get most of the files that do not have CRC error. After further tinkering (using various HDD utility) it seems that both MFT and its mirror are corrupted/broken as well.

I tried using CHKDSK /F but windows 8 report it can't fix the HD (after it ask me to restart). I tried to do full format but Windows say it can't finish. I do quick format and seems OK (it does not report bad sector) but I don't feel ease to use the HD again (even for unimportant temp data) before the previously bad sector is mark. I tried using CHKDSK /r and it run very slow when verifying free space.

Anyway, I tried running HDDLLF ver 4.30 and 4.25 but the program refuse to run saying the USB HDD has been unplug (but I continue to be able to browse it after HDDLLF report it is being unplug). Any idea?

Many thanks for your help.
