I supidly tried to power up my 12v Zoom MRS-1608 recording studio with my 19v laptop charger and I'm almost positive that I fried the TVS diode on the Seagate ST340015ACE Hard drive. I have found a photo of the board online, and I need help confirming the location of the said TVS diode. I am looking to get it working so that I may back up all of the priceless data and maybe even continue using the HDD (even without the safeguard of the TVS diode). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank You very much!

The +12V TVS diode is the one you should be looking at. It is probably the larger of the two devices identified in your other thread.

As Haque said, a better photo would be nice, but if you could at least provide the part markings, then that would help also.

Thank You very much for your help! Sorry about the duplicate posts, I am new to the forum and I wasn't sure if this post would be rejected for having a link. So, I saved the image as a. Jpg and it posted without requiring approval. Btw, the markings are 611 15A. On the larger diode and AE 0611 on the smaller.

"AE" is the 5V TVS diode.

"15A" looks like it may be a 12V TVS diode with a 15V breakdown voltage.

The "611" and "0611" markings look like YWW and YYWW (Year / Week) date codes.

Thank You so much, fzabkar! You've confirmed what I had suspected. I really needed to make sure before proceeding, as the data is invaluable to me.
