Hi

I have a WD 1TB Elements
wdbabv0010bbk-00
pcb ver 2060-771754-000

Was working fine then one day would not find drive in windows tested on 3 other os win 7 xp linux no joy

in win 7 if i leave plugged in it finds it after about 30 mins but only as raw drive but not able to access ect...

When its plugged in the white led is on constant then flashes a few times after 30 mins before finding drive as raw in windows then flashes again after some time...

There is no clicking noise and the drive is spinning up ok but like i said not showing up in windows

After doing some searching i understand all about encryption regarding pcb swap but what i want to try 1st is to solder directly to the pcb board not using sata side but usb points but i am unsure where the pin points are for the data are i know where the power points are....

So any help i would be very great-full...

Will post photos later

H

Hi, it could be firmware issue, or bad sectors.
You have a Elements drive and it should not have encryption.

Hi Mr_spokk

Thx for the swift response so if there is no encryption with this drive then i should be able to use the sata pin outs which after researching are in the area of e71 e72 ect ect....

If any body has the data info location of each sata pins or even usb i would be great-full...

The usb socket looks intact but i want to bypass it 1st just to make sure its not that at fault

if that fails to work coming directly off the pcb sata or usb then would a pcb board swap work if there is no encryption...

It's better to find a compatible Sata Pcb instead of soldering...
It has been covered many times in the forum...do a little search.
