1TB WD My Passport.

The HDD had T0NF error. With SATA compatible PCB it was changed and found SLOW ACCESS. Did Smart reset and other tweaking, it's working smoothly now with the SATA PCB.

Now returned to USB PCB, then found the same Error - T0NF.
Then did SATA pinout from the PCB ...

71, 72, 73, 75 in right order. and the existing USB port is used as POWER input.

But no detection!

If power is required to PINOUT from the PCB then where is the output to this PCB? 771814.

Is it the USB PCB fault? or something else? Any input will be appreciated.

I can't help answer your question, but I can offer an alternative solution if you can't find an answer. You could clone with SATA PCB to 3.5" SATA drive, then use a 3.5" compatible WD PCB (from encrypted WD external drive) to decrypt the data. The only issue is if you don't already have several 3.5" PCBs, finding the correct match to decrypt the data may be tricky.

I ordered same PCB to check if there is something wrong with Original PCB.

If not, I planned to follow your idea.

Well, I have never tested, but asking you if this tricks goes...

1. Cloning with SATA PCB to a regular HDD (Encrypted Data).
2. Fixing completely the existing HDD (Selfscan/Bad Sector reallocation)
3. Cloning back to the original HDD again as Encrypted data having the SATA PCB.
4. Replacing the USB PCB with existing one or donor(if required)... and also swapping U14 and U12/

Will this trick go for the Decryption?
Any experience?

Theoretically it should work, but practically I would like to see the experience.

Why would you do this considering the original has errors?

Dont complicate things. Convert to SATA manually or find suitable SATA PCB and swap ROM to it. Fix original issue, clone to any SATA disk then decrypt with a 3.5" MyBook enclosure with the corresponding bridge.

It's Really tough to arrange WD MY BOOK Enclosure with corresponding Bridge IC.

I collect one with Initio 1607E.

Can you please specify specific model of WD My Book or other brand HDDs which contains JMS538S based IC & symwave IC so that I can buy based on the requiremets!
