I think (correct me if I'm wrong) waqas_ali766 is looking for information to "refurbish" these drive families when a drive has a dead H0/H1 for later selling to some poor soul. Repairing a drive would require the heads to be replaced.

There is a way but telling you would be like telling every body because you would make a video and share it .

Hmm, refurb bad drives and resell...then the drives is a timebomb for the poor new owners.

dear friends i know how to refubish hdd if head 0 1 2 and 3 damaged and others are ok .
it is the game of adaptives and regions . and after these settings arco must run completly .
i already made videos of this problem.
i ask this question to tell all people who says that if head0 and 1 damaged hdd is use less. so they are wrong .
all hdd are repairable if head0 and 1 damaged .
i tested on all models which i mention above .
thanks

Another quiz thread ?
P.S. if head is actually damaged due to surface problem, guess what happens sooner than you expect, no matter how you "refurb" the drive WITHOUT physical intervention ...

Sorry, duplicated - please remove.
Is it only me having problems with 'Back' button on browser resubmitting posts ?

Re: HEAD 0 AND 1 is damaged

A drive with heads 0 & 1 bad would make a very poor candidate for "refurbishment." As BlackST pointed out, there is a good likelihood of media damage also in this case, and subsequent failure after minimal use.

Surely you have better things to do?

A thread was started in good note, but unfortunately turned sour. Friends, please avoid harsh comment on anyone.

Humm, and how do u expect to SEE THAT?

my point of view: if you want to tell/share small piece of info. about ur discovery, you may JUST SAY IT.
unless you wanted more Attention regarding Refub. drives.

there are many people i know who refub. drives and sell, and for sure they KNOW about what your talking about here.

whatever is the case: Good luck with your DFL

Absolutely wrong. But it shows the way of thinking in the rich countries.

It implies also that selling of refirbished drives is a kind of cheating ! At the same time such "pro's" don't hesitate to charge their customers with hundreds and thousands of euros or dollars for doing almost nothing!

if u know this then it is good . but what about others who don't know this ? all people are saying a lot . but no one can tell here what i ask . i see in many post no one can replay exactly what user post about its problem .
dfl is good tool. but in general if u know the background of function then u are able to solve a lot of hdd problems. if your concept is not good then i don't think u repair hdd .
so basically i post here to clear the concepts..

You ask "how to repair" but actually mean "how to downsize".

You ask "how to repair a drive" but actually mean "how to repair a WD drive".

Yes, I know how to downsize WD drives and I have done it many times. So what?

Re: HEAD 0 AND 1 is damaged

October 27th, 2013, 13:40

friend its not about downsize.
why we need to format sa this is my question? and what kind of changes is done after formating sa? and what about self sa means selfscan sa?

Re: HEAD 0 AND 1 is damaged

October 27th, 2013, 14:58

I really don't understand the purpose of the thread... if you know how , as you can see the pros here are not interested (using more professional tools or even not, it is not a problem to downsize, cut head or zone, selfscan, make the drive start from an arbitrary head -where possible !- and so on, thanks anyway) so make a tutorial video or whatever else for beneficial of the other people interested.
Otherwise, it seems either a promo or social engineering masked as quiz, at least for me. No, thanks.
