There are things money can't buy, for everything else there's a credit card.
Would be nicer to ask for a new section like QUIZZES , if the intent is genuine - start a question then when the correct answer is given, an explanation and the name of the 'winner' is given. Simple, isn't it?

HI,
can any body tell me why we run SA FORMAT or FORMAT RESERVED AREA or SELF SA. and what we do after doing this ?

sa format and reserved area format.
when we disable head in head map we need to remove its adaptives also and set the adaptives of head 1 to work like head 0. for example
head 0 701 adaptives
head 1 702 adaptives
head 2 703 adaptives
now we are going to disable head 0 in head map now these are the settings
head 1 701 adaptives
head 2 702 adaptives
703 adaptives
now here many user ignor the point and hdd start clicking after power reset . after disable we need to move adaptives like this
head 1 702
head 2 703
0
now after reset power hdd show ready and cannot spin down
now next thing is to change region so that hdd work with 2 heads , when 3 heads thee regions are 3, after disable heads regions are still 3 . now we need to remove region of head 0.
now in some hdd format sa or format reserved area need permanent overlay (module number 11) upload it and format SA after it complete see regions now there are 2 regions. if hdd has one head also have two regions. format sa also need a quick sa list and save error in this list ( module 35)
next step is to upload 01 directory module now people write 01 and 35 together but it is wrong . why they write together because when they write 01 module the 35 show header error.
solution
in wdr open modules operation and click on road map . here wirte 01 and initialize it now it cannot damaged 35 module. now write 11 module and initialize it . now close modules operation and open it again and write all modules except 01 and 35 now may people reset power and hdd goes undetected like mackenly and mariner hdd and also jamica. now after upload all modules select 31 32 33 34 36 modules and clear all these modules now reset power.
next step
reserved area arco .
after all these steps we need to run reserved arco to set all things with these two heads in rom .
SELF SA.
now after running arco we need to run self sa. what self sa do ? it add all bad sector from firmware are and add it into sa list (module 35) and also genrate new 30 module . now again we need to format sa with hdd own rp list (35 module) after that upload 01 and initialize it then write other except 01 and 35 .
and clear 31 32 33 34 36 modules . cannot clear 35 number module
now hdd is ready to start arco .
now it depend on u that u run arco one by one . or run arco in pst sequence.
. here is the procedure of recyling the hdd with head disabling .
head disable and head depop are two different things.
Thanks

I think more care should be considered with this type of info by always posting a disclaimer (your data will be destroyed!) with these type of descriptions. Why? Some people will erroneously think this will be a solution for data recovery, when it really is a solution for drive restoration/repair/etc.

Regards

It is nothing to do with common sense.

If you are looking for information, really how do you draw the line between "I have found enough information for my particular application" and "I need to still gather more information"

such as people with 7200.12 and applying 7200.11 tutorial.

how many times have you been searching for information on something and realised afterwards you already had thi info, but didnt know how it linked with your problem, and also thought you knew something, tried a procedure and realised after that you stuffed up because you didnt know something?

It can happen to the most careful and clever people.

I would like to see people that do know something, and actually want to share, step into the shoes of the people that don't know.

for example :

answers like " you need to cannect sata to pcb" or "swap ROM and try it" etc

head depop is a function which a programer make . by using this option we select the head which we need to depop and it auto change all the thing like capacity, track density, adaptive, and many other thing.
but if we talk about head disable in rom map. then it is just head remove but in firmware all things are available for maximum heads, not for remaining heads.
so after head depop we need to set all thing manually,

Isn't this contradictory?
