Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

have an unmountable glyph gt062, running on macbookpro .. have tried repairiing w disk utility data rescue 3, etc to no success .. but i do not care to either save the file or the drive, instead i simply want a list of the file names on the hard drive. knowing what was on the hard drive is much more important than having actual copies of it.
any suggestions?
thanks!

thanks so much!
no it make no strange sounds. the drive shows up in the diskutility list of drives, however the single partition on the drive shows up as well but greyed out. neither appear on desktop. the drive is glyph gt062. when disk repair is performed (yes have already tried that w both diskutility and drive genius) it says 'invalid record count' - that is the only listed error.
i don t have access to a PC

thanks ,
i appreciate your feedback. again i m just trying to get the names of the files - and have no interest in copying them. the friend's pc idea could be good - but because the drive is formatted for mac (mac os journaled) i don t think a pc would even recognize it at all. but of course i don t know.

Apple and W$N is the same CPU - Intel.
One is MacOSX and the other is just copy of software from other company's hehehehe
You need a modern Linux - Ubuntu, Fedora and you get the files.
If you need more help just ask ...
Best regards,
Ruy
