Apart from hitting limitters, what causes clicking ?

November 22nd, 2013, 13:13

Apart from hitting the head-movement limitters, what else causes clicking ?

How can one explain the different clicking rates heard in faulty hard drives ? Different hard drives can have different clicking rates depending on their rotational speed; but, how can the same hard drive have different clicking rates ?

Appreciate any info.

Thanks.

Never heard radio through HDA ? A VCM can reproduce quite well ... Clicking can be the result of the vcm driven.

I mean the radial speed of the actuator arm.

Thanks BlackST.

But, is not clicking caused by the VCM causing the actuator arm to hit the extremes ? Should not the clicking rate be dependent on the VCM speed ? ?
