Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Like ATA/ATAPI standard (for Host to HDD intrfacing), is there any standard that HDD manufacturers follow to produce/program the inside of HDDs, for example, a standard that governs the type of Modules, Firmwares used, where in the platters that those modules are stored, the Head mappings etc ?
Thanks for any info.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately in many ways) not.
