As it says, will I have space address issues if they're connected to a pci sata2 controller?

Latest debian/mdadm,
Plan on buying 8 3tb drives and making a 18tb usable/24th overall raid6 array, I'm just curious if I'll have issues or not since I'm not directly using the motherboard..

Using a controller card should have no problems with that, it also depends on the OS you are using. Just make sure the drivers are compatible with the OS you are using and you should be good to go. The controller card, or PCI controller card will have its own BIOS. I have 1TB and a 750 gb drive connected through a PCi card and running windows ME or Xp SP3, no problems.
