Hi,

I have WD5000BEVT 2.5". I connect to PC. It spins up, clicks 1 time, stops then back to spin, clicks 3 times, stop. It repeats 3 rounds. On 4th round, it spins, clicks 1 time, stops then back to spin, clicks 4 times, stops. On 5th round onwards, it spins, clicks 4 times, stops. PC BIOS does not detect the drive. On imager, it spins, clicks 1 time, stop then back to spin, clicks 3 times, stops then enter DRDY state. After doing rescan, it spins, clicks 1 time, stop then back to spin, clicks 4 times, stops. It repeats 3 rounds then back to BSY state. Is it mechanical problem or firmware problem? and can it be fixed by serial terminal with usb to ttl adapter?

Thanks.

Hi,

Probably it has damaged heads, but that need to be confirmed by a proper diagnosis made by a DR company.

If your data is valuable I would not try much more, because you can end up damaging the drive even more.
