When I power on I get mild and constant beeping sound. The sound is like stuck head, but even after moving the head the platter seems to not rotate

I had a another seagate with similar sound, but after moving the head to ramp it was fine. But this one seems to not work even after moving the head and rotating the platter.

Looks like the motor is seized. I'm assuming the platters did not spin freely when you moved the heads?

Check platters for scratches, when drive spins up again is it getting stuck in same place on the surface. That is only if the drive is spinning on its own and the motor is not seized. Was drive dropped and now out of alignment. What was original problem when you got it into your shop?

No scratches on platter. On power on the platter does not spin. The drive was not dropped and is only 6 months old. From the start the drive is giving the same mild beeping sound. When I opened I found platter does not spin. I moved the head to different position, but still platter does not spin on power on.

When I spin by hand the motor is not spinning freely. Is this a motor failure?. Need to re-house the platter to a working casing ? or is there any other way?

I was under the impression that you did DR work. I will not encourage you to go on with this recovery if you have not done it before and have no idea what is your problem. You are asking us help to continue on with a DIY. Sorry not possible. Sure hope you opened this drive in a clean room to play around with it. Hope by now there is not finger prints on the surface of the platters. BTW how did you move the heads? If you say it is not spinning on its own did you try powering it on when it was open to see this one? Were you in a clean room when you did that? If not you have really messed this one up quite a bit by spinning the drive with the lid off out in the open. Hope it is your personal drive and not one of your clients or friends. Seek professional help and now you have opened it up well you know the story on this one the price goes up too.

Measure the resistances of the motor windings. If the motor tests OK, then try spinning it up with a different board.

i have a drive like this, 7200.11 500gb SATA. it came to me with the mild beeping issue. stuck heads. Since it was given to me with no worry about the data and no warranty with seagate (i checked before i took cover off). I took it apart and seen the heads were stuck at the end of the drive. I spun the platter gently and they parked back in the park position (this drive has no ramps). I then put the cover back on and spun the drive up. It did its normal thing (seek test) but it was really loud. I did some operations and copy back and fourth and have had some clicking noises and HD sentinel reports that the drive has 79 spin up errors, while copying the bad sector counted up slowly to 660. It's still doing it's operations, when it's done im going to see if it will power down and back up. I DO NOT recommend anyone take the cover off your drive to try to fix it. This problem already damaged the heads and media surface to the point it got tons of bad sectors and recalibration errors. Not to mention the drive was exposed to lots of dust in the air because of no clean room. Data recovery centers have the means and tools to recover drives and it should always be the way to go if you value your data to get it back. This time the data was of no importance and there was no warranty so i figured i could try it to see what would happen. Other drives i have done this with have spun up and damaged the heads so severely the drive was unable to become ready with buzzing noises. Just thought i'd share.
