Hi there
I have a Western Digital My Book 1Tb that had several important files that i need, more recently i connect the external hard drive , open my computer and now it shows me 2 partitions , one with 349mb and the other with 232gb , i open and most of the file that i had are now gone , i dont know what happened can someone help me with this?? Thanks

So lets step back.
were you doing anything with the disk, such as:
- playing with partitions
- formatting other disks where you might have formatted the wrong one
- installing any software that does anything remotely to do with the filesystem, encryption, magic folders etc
- scanning the disk for errors
- installing other hardware
- large or out of the ordinary copy operations, moving files about
- cloning or imaging disks/partitions
- did you drop the disk
- etc etc
anything, ANYTHING at all you think might be a possible contributing factor?
I would take an image of the whole disk before trying to fix it. Then if anything goes wrong you have a backup.

Can you show us what DMDE (freeware) finds?
