Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Dear all,
I have a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001, which I cannot access any more. The hard drive is also not more detected by the Bios. Probably the outage happened after a power blackout. So there were no forces from outside to the disk.
Afterwards when the disk spins up there is always a little bit strange sound, but it seems to be normal for this type of disk and mentioned in several threads in regards of the new firmware CC49. So the disk spins up, tries 3-4 times to recognize something and spins down again. The error sounds very similar to the BSY error of Seagate Barracuda 7200.11. So I also tried to access the disk via RS232 connection, but I did not get the prompt.
Let's summarize what I did so far. I have a second disk still running to compare my results:
1. Change of disk heads in clean room between each other. My second disk is in normal operation with the heads of the broken one. So, this was not the problem.
2. Connect RS232 to the disk and block the connection of the data pin (without SATA connection plugged-in). After spin up some error messages came up, but no prompt. Same behavior for the good one and same messages.
3. Connect RS232, but change nothing of the connections of the PCB to the disk; still without SATA connection plugged-in. The good one starts and finally gave me a prompt. The broken one came up with almost the same error messages as during the try before, but with one line changed:
FAIL Servo Op=0100 Resp=0007
Before it was just:
FAIL Servo Op=0100 Resp=0003
I am still getting no prompt. This is the total log file until the disk spins down again:
Boot 0x40M
Spin Up

Hello Spildit,
thanks for your support. Is the SA only saved once on the hard disk. Is it not usually at least two times as backup? You are right that the missing SA might lead to the sound I get in the beginning that the disk tries to access it, but cannot read it.
I changed the PCBs between each other, but not the ROM (Bios chip). If I remember correctly the starting behaviour is not effected by just exchanging the PCBs. Would it make sense to change the Bios chip between both PCBs?
To read out the SA, what kind of tools do I need? Is it done via serial connection or do I have to connect via SATA port?
Best Regards,
David

Hello Mr. Pankhania,
I tried contacting you via Skype, but I believe you are sleeping currently.
Unfortunately I have none of the analyze kids you list up. How about the BSY bug? As I see and can test on the website of Seagate my disk is affected. Unfortunately the described procedure of 7200.11 hdd does not work with my one. Do I have to shorten two pins to finally get a prompt?
It would be great to have a direct chat with you.
Best Regards,
David
