Is there any problem in my HDD

March 13th, 2014, 12:50

Hello there friends,
First of all I don't have much knowledge of computers. OK now please help !
I have dual core 3.06GHz processor with 4GB Ram and 2GB graphic card. I have 160 GB WD1600AVVS 7200 RPM hdd. Now problem occurs when I play HD videos or games on my pc. :?: The HD videos don't run good and some games don't even start. The latest was NBA2K14 which runs very slowly. So what do you think ? where is the problem. My HDD is 54.54 GB free ( C: (windows)8.25 of 29.1...... D: 38.5 of 61.1 .......E: 7.79 of 58.5). I have GeForce Gt 610 Graphic Card ( http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop ... ifications ). Moreover My window experience index score is 1.9 ! and it gives processor 1.9, ram 3.5, graphics 4.2, gaming graphics 6.2 and Primary Hard Disk 5.8. I use window 7 ultimate (32 Bit). But the problem was still there when i installed Window 7 Basic, professional and even windows Xp !! what to do ? please help me.

Well you either dont have the chipset drivers for your motherboard installed, along with proper drivers for everything else..
-or-
The components in your system are just not very powerful.

Generally it is the hard disk that is a low score, for the CPU to be that low, it looks like that CPU is a pretty low end one, possibly even throttled back in power management.

You might need to take it to a PC shop, explain your problems and get someone to do some hands on... a little hard to fix general problems like this over the net, so many variables.
cheers

Hi mnb,
probably not a hard drive issue, nor would you would find game settings talked about on this forum, however

check here for machine spec:

Other things:

If you aren't too familiar with Windows settings don't mess about and kill your system unintentionally.

that said: if you are reasonably confident -

Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring Task Manager up and see what else is running and or starting on your PC and maybe hogging the CPU.

Check the ingame settings. Am not familair with that particular game but some have optimistic settings in the game configs. try turning detail to low spec and see if it improves.

Just in general, clear junk files, and defrag C:, 8 gig isnt a lot of room on a partition these days.
A chunk of that may be taken up by un-necessary System Restore points, temp files, internet crap and so on. Set a fixed amount of space for Virtual Memory, this stops windows re arranging it and fragmenting it if there isn't contiguous space.

Have a look round this guys site:

for hints and tips on Windows settings.
