This chinese programmer has a lot of problem if power supply is plugged before or during windows boot.
First boot the operating system, then power on the Willem.

Also you have to set in the bios ECC+ECP for the parallel port.

thanks for the info , am aware of the issues that this programmer has , but i read alot of success stories about it , before getting it , and it's pretty cheap programmer that can do what i need the programmer for ..

am using the zif socket BTW , with no success ..

there are Many many people cloning/copying/butchering the Willem designs. I have seen some pretty horrendous ones.

have you tried running the software as administrator if in win7
Are you locating the chips in the correct position in the ZIF and are the exact chis supported?

what specific issues, are you getting error messages or chips arent detected or..

have you looked in the windows event viewer for any errors in parallel port or software?

is there any logging available in the software that might be able to be turned on to show where the problems are?

not really sure there is enough info yet to help. Care to elaborate on it a bit?
cheers

You may be able to get some help on the MCUMall forum for Willem programmers: http://www.mcumall.com/forum/default.asp

They seem quite helpful.

In addition to the above.....
1. I found changing to a different software version cured many problems.
2. Also if you are unable to id the chip then it is unlikely to read out the contents correctly.
3. Also try a different power source just in case that is the problem.

the zif socket seems crappy , when testing to read a 3V rom , not a single pin from the zif socket is reading a similar voltage ...

i have got the 8 legs flash adapter , and soldered it to 8 pins silicon chip , and directly connected it to the 25cXX socket , and it read fine ..

one thing i noticed when computing hashes of the result is that 3 reading of the same chip returned 2 identical while the third was not ..

should be carefull when reading using such programmer , but for it's price , am happy with it :o

thanks all for your help
