WD500BMVW-11AMCS2 (passwoport usb3)

Hello to all,

The disk drive had a fall while it was pluged. Now the drive trying to spin but going to a repeating sound with the led blinking all the time. The pcb is 2060-771761-001. Any help would be greatfull. Thx.

I agree, you definitely don't want to attempt anything yourself on that model. If it was dropped, it's going to need new heads which should be done in a clean room. It's also an encrypted drive, so the logical recovery takes some extra steps even after it is imaged onto a fresh drive.

Seek professional help. If you tell us your location we can recommend a good lab that won't kill you on the price.

OP contacted us, drive was diagnosed and client was quoted.

The drive suffers from stiction, but luckily heads look ok. But drive has also relo problem and its MFT is damaged.
I believe we can recover it if client accepts quote.
