WD 2,5" My Passport

April 29th, 2014, 12:26

Hi

I'm working on this WD.
Problem: the files are gone. The client said she didn't did nothing, they just dissapeared.
The HDD is working fine, well detected, no FW problems. All seeams fine.

I have imaged the drive and started to search with R-Studio and GetDataback..
I can find the MFT file tree with all the folders and files, but if I try to save them and then open to check, they are all corrupted. Jpeg's, docs, whatever...

What could had happened so it got like this?
Any ideas how to get the files?!

Thanks

I had a recent case on a laptop HDD.

Files were disappeared, All file were getting with File Tree but all were corrupted while saving.

Only RAW Recovery did work!

Yeah, RAW I can recover the files.
The strange is that I can see the tree structure but the files (if I check with Winhex) are all at 000000.

Try to create 'regions' in R-studio and see if you can recover files via filesystem.
If 'regions' creation doesn't work, do first a full scan in r-studio and then create regions.
