thx for the instructions Spildit. But what do you mean by fast? and why will the drive die again?

I mean that the drive have some sort of problem to start with, othewise you wouldn't have experienced the 0-LBA problem, if it's just a translator problem to start with.

Most likely the drive have heads issues as well,

the 0-lba and the bsy bug are caused by firmware problem on 7200.11 but on 7200.12 when you experience something like a 0-lba problem the cause IS NOT a firmware bug but something else, and normaly the drive will have dying heads as well.

The idea is to get the data out as fast as you can and do not re-use the drive

Regards.

By fast i mean get the data one file at a time as soon as you have access to the data again and don't re-use the drive.

Also PLEASE VERIFY the data on the destination drive when you copy it out to make sure that the data is intacted and working.

Only then you can sacrifice the "damaged" drive ! Do not destroy or toss away the original drive until you are absolutly sure that all the data that you needed and that you have copied out is working fine.
