Hello mates,

I've been trying regular stuff for DR from a Desaru drive - ST9500423AS, with no success. Original HSA was totally broken, so I swapped heads, turn the drive ON, and gain readiness status exactly once after a few clicks. I edited the SMP to disable autoreallocation and defect sparing, and power cycled it for the changes to make effect. No more readiness status: Only thing I get is 5-6 quick clicks and LED 00000067 error on terminal. The same error comes up if the HMA is dettached from the PCB, and using the donor PCB as well.

Obviously I suspect bad surface/heads (even the new stack), but I cannot reach the terminal after changing head map in ROM or anything in order to try regular stuff. Always LED 00000067 after a second or two.

Any ideas on what can be done to this drive?

Thanks

Yes, it does. I haven't got much experience on Momentus 5400.5 but I'd bet these also click 11 times if the head stack reported only servo errors. This time's just 5-6 times, quite quickly.

Regards

Seems it can't totally read something from SA, to me. Or scratch.

Check also compatibility of heads, I had bad times on .5 and co. even with apparently potential perfect match....
