Any opinions on using any of the various types of HD cooling fans available to improve the reliability and extend the life of hard drives?

It seems that the newer, higher density and faster spinning drives are running hotter. Heat is certainly the enemy with certain electronic components. Seems that keeping the drives cooler is a good, logical idea. But, are the benefits significant?

Hello,

U have just asked one of the most important questions :)
According to my experience ~40 % of failures in theese new drives can be related to temerature.
But remember, the fan doesn't make backup

yes.. backup is more important than take care about its temperature..
caused your data is more valuable than the HDD itsself...
