MacPro Toshiba Hard disk

First post on the forum

My daugter MacPro has a hard disk problem.

I can't reload the machine. I did succeed once to reinstall the OS, but now nothing. This model came with no instalation disk

- Any solution to suggest?
- Can I remove the hard disk and do a low format using a Windows PC? There is probably bad sector in the start section
- What kind of sofware can I use to do that?

Hi, and welcome.
Sorry to say but a bad drive ain't going to be better, if the information is of no care..bin it.
Better to buy a new drive and reinstall Os-X, if you don't have a recovery cd/dvd visit any data repair shop and they'll help you out.

+1 to go to a repair shop. at least they will solve any issues backed with experience.. hopefully.

"But now, nothing" is impossible to help diagnose.

You could try using MHDD with HDD in a windows PC but my advice is whenever a HDD starts displaying a problem, replace it.

If you successfully reloaded the OS, but the model came with no install disks, how did you reload it?

If you bought a new Hard Disk, and reloaded the OS... which it appears you have the required knowledge to do, then this would be cheaper than a consult fee of a repair shop.

In my opinion best option.

I bought a new drive. Something I learn is

- The new drive do auto repair themselves So when SMART tell that the drive is bad, it is better to change it. In my young time, a bad sector was a bad sector that needed to be flagged,

- No disc: Without installation disc, MacPro do have the basic "intelligence" to be able to restart the machine, connect to Apple server and reload the software to the empty new hard drive
