Cryptowall

Hello all,

I've been infected with the Cryptowall virus.

Following the various tutorials online I've managed to rid my laptop of the virus but, as you will no doubt know, my files are still encrypted.

I've tried opening the files with a version of Linux called KNOPPIX, running from a USB stick, but the encryption still sticks.

On these forums I've seen a discussion around using a hex editor to replace the first charcters of the infected files with generic ones, which apparently has had some success.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have some progaramming knowledge and am not afraid to try - nothing to lose effectively!

Many thanks,

Roger.
