Hi All,

Received this HDD from client - Toshiba MK6461GSYN, doesn't spin up at all. Attached the PCB.

Can anyone tell me where's the diode?

Check the fuse near L3. If it is open, then check the various supplies for shorts.

Thanks so much for help.

Beep when tested
- The little chip with 's' on the left side of L3 beep
- 2 little small black one next to little chip with 's'

without beep
- Little black one on the right side of L3
- 2 orange color one on the left of L3

What's the one with 's'?

IMHO this one should "BEEP"
I would say it is a fuse or a resistor, possibly 0 Ohm.

That looks like a capacitor. It's probably the output filter for a switchmode regulator. It should not beep.

It's the "shorted" fuses that amuse me the most.
